Welcome! I’m Denise.
and It’s my honor to help you find hope after job loss.
One week shy of my 13th work anniversary, the president called me into his office. I thought perhaps I was going to be given an important project. Those thoughts quickly disappeared when I saw the HR manager seated.
My job, I learned, had been eliminated. I was thanked for years of good service, handed separation papers, which I was encouraged not to sign immediately but to review with a lawyer, and wished success in my future endeavors. I was told I was welcome to stop back and visit any time.
In a matter of minutes my life changed!
Many people experience job loss. Not because they are bad people or poor employees. But because budgets are cut, or business plans change and no longer require their area of expertise. Or because a virus has turned the world upside down.
It’s easy to feel discouraged. Angry. Condemned. Fearful. Hopeless.
You are saying goodbye to life as you knew it. And embracing the unknown.
If you’re like me, you don’t always like the unknown. You want to know how long it will be before your new job appears and what you will be doing and where. Sometimes those answers are not available as quickly as you would like.
And so, you need to take care of yourself in the time in between.
I am writing this blog because every person deserves hope after job loss.
I will share with you how to cope with loss and to care for yourself during the transition. These tools will help you become resilient and confident.
Come, join me on this journey to hope.
